The delay means that Americans will most likely go to the polls in early November without knowing whether Trump, who has already been found guilty, will have to go to prison or not. If he wins against Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, the sentence could be delayed even further. In the worst case scenario, Trump faces a prison sentence of several years. 17:56: Former US television chief and media mogul James Murdoch supports Kamala Harris’ candidacy. This is stated in a joint letter from 88 business leaders that was made available to CNBC.
Until 2018, Murdoch was the head of the media group 21st Century Fox, founded by his father Rupert Murdoch. The group also owns the conservative news channel Fox News, which Harris’ rival Donald Trump particularly likes. It is no secret that Murdoch himself is close to the Democrats. In 2020, he and his wife each supported the campaign of incumbent President Joe Biden with 615,000 US dollars.
In addition to Murdoch, the senders include Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelman and the CEO of the parent company of the social network Snapchat, Michael Lynton. Also on Harris’s list of supporters: former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi, former Merck CEO Ken Frazier and former Ford CEO Blake Irving.
The letter says a vote for Harris is “the best way to support the strength, security and reliability of our democracy and economy.”
12.42 pm: Kamala Harris raised $361 million (almost €325 million) in donations in August alone, reports the Washington Post, citing a spokesperson for Harris’ campaign team. This means that Harris raised almost three times as much money in August as her Republican opponent Donald Trump, who only raised $130 million (€117 million) in the same period.
According to the spokesman, 60 percent of donors are female and one in five is registered as either a Republican or independent voter. In total, Harris has received more than $615 million (around 553 million euros) in donations since she officially began her candidacy at the end of July. In comparison, Donald Trump received around $575 million (almost 518 million euros) in donations in 2024 by the end of August, according to the non-governmental organization “OpenSecrets.”
According to the spokesman, this does give them a financial advantage over Donald Trump, but the numbers still have to be seen in relation, because Harris’ campaign team, with almost 2,000 employees, is significantly larger than Trump’s.

On October 1, the 54-year-old will publish her memoirs, which can already be pre-ordered on her website and on Amazon. “Melania: A Memoir” is already the No. 1 bestseller in the “US Presidents” category before its publication. The book is also in third place in the list of biographies and fourth in the list of new releases.
In a video that the former First Lady shared on Platform X on Thursday, she talks about her book. Writing her memoirs was a journey full of deep reflection. “As a private citizen who is often subject to public scrutiny and misinformation… I feel a responsibility to get the facts straight,” Trump says in the video message, which is entirely in black and white. “I believe it is important to share my perspective: the truth.”
According to the book’s description, the former First Lady looks back on her Slovenian childhood, among other things. She describes the decisive moments that led her into the world of haute couture in Europe and New York, as well as her chance encounter with Donald Trump, which changed her life forever.
