The three-year path of the economy is announced today

The Medium Term Program (MTP), which determines the 3-year road map and targets of the economy, will be announced today by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz.

With the MTP, the route to be followed in critical areas such as finance and price stability, growth and employment is determined. The appropriation proposal ceilings of public administrations will also be included in the MTP. In the program, inflation, growth policies and structural reforms are expected to come to the fore.

The MTP is prepared by the Presidency’s Strategy and Budget Directorate and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance with joint efforts and is published in the Official Gazette after President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan signs it. The aim of the MTP is to determine macroeconomic policies, reveal basic economic quantities, income-expenditure forecasts, budget balance and debt situation. The MTP shows the macroeconomic policy framework and targets, as well as the priority reform areas and timetable.

CURRENT TARGETS

In the MTP, which covers the period 2026-2028, the economy was targeted to grow by 3.8 percent in 2026, 4.3 percent in 2027 and 5 percent in 2028.

Inflation was predicted to be 16 percent this year, 9 percent for 2027, and 8 percent for 2028. It was calculated that the ratio of the budget deficit to gross domestic product would be 3.5 percent in 2026 and 2.8 percent at the end of the program period. In the program, the unemployment rate target was set to be 8.4 percent for 2026, 8.2 percent for 2027 and 7.8 percent for 2028.
