The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has updated the “Imitation or Adulterated Foods” list. It has been determined that some companies mix equine and winged animal meat into the minced meat and meatballs they sell to citizens in order to produce it more cheaply. 31 new products that are always on the table have been added to the published list. The list included many products, from red pepper powder to white cheese, from butter to yoghurt, from sumac to baklava.
In the latest disclosure list, a hotel operating in Antalya was also included in the adulteration list. During the inspections, poultry meat was detected in Imperial Sunland Hotel’s Adana kebab.
Genç Köfteci Çavuş company, operating in Edremit district of Balıkesir, was also on the list. It was determined that the beef meatballs sold by the company contained poultry meat. In addition, poultry meat was found in the beef meatballs sold by Uysallar Meatballs company operating in Kocasinan district of Kayseri.
It was determined that the buffalo yoghurt sold by Avara Sucuks company was also made from cow’s milk. Food coloring emerged from sumac, and seed oils emerged from olive oil. It was determined that Safir brand baklava contained peanuts and Şanlı brand yoghurt contained starch.
