The “mandatory” period for second-hand vehicle purchase payments has begun

Until now, the use of the Secure Payment System has been mandatory in the sales of businesses engaged in the trade of second-hand motor vehicles (car dealerships). The system has become mandatory for everyone as of today.

The application, which is expected to create an environment of trust in the second-hand vehicle market and prevent consumer grievances, aims to eliminate disputes between buyers and sellers in terms of payment and risks such as carrying cash, counterfeit money and non-payment of the sales price.

In the system, the seller will first initiate the secure payment process. Then, before going to the notary, the buyer will deposit the money with the reference number to the intermediary institution, and after the sale is approved, the money waiting in the secure account will instantly be transferred to the seller’s account.

Banks that have a contract with the Notaries Union of Türkiye will be in the system

All banks, electronic money or payment institutions that have signed a protocol with the Notaries Union of Türkiye will be included in the system. For each transaction, 105 lira will be collected by the bank, deducted from the vehicle sales price to be transferred to the seller. 52.5 lira of the fee in question will be transferred to the Notaries Union of Türkiye as transaction participation fee.

In case of withdrawal from the sales transaction, the application made through the system may be canceled and the amount deposited by the buyer will be refunded by the relevant bank, electronic money or payment institution. Information cannot be edited after the application is created. This will require canceling the current application and starting a new process.

Citizens are satisfied with the “assurance”

With the Secure Payment System becoming mandatory for everyone as of today, all eyes are focused on the application. Those who came to the notary today to shop for vehicles used the system for the first time.

One of the citizens, Ahmet Yusuf Dağdelen, expressed his satisfaction with the assurance provided to the AA correspondent, although he had some difficulties. Dağdelen explained his process as follows:

“Thanks to Ziraat Bank, we made an agreement with the seller with the Secure Payment System. The bank blocked the money. Then we completed the transaction. We receive the reference number from the bank. An SMS comes to our phone. After entering the bank’s application, I enter the amount requested by the seller, and the bank sends the reference code based on the agreed amount. Notary “After the transaction is completed, the vehicle sale process takes place with this reference code. I have bought and sold vehicles before, but this is the first time I have used this system and I felt a little safer.”

Vehicle dealer Rıfat Duran said, “It is a transaction made via phone banking. Therefore, I do not know how people over a certain age can solve this. They may have a little difficulty, but we have seen that it is a very good application in terms of security.” he said.
