The rotor, one of the important equipment of the turbine unit of the 1st power unit of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NGS) built in Mersin, was placed on the turbine generator stator.

According to the statement made by the company, the successful installation of the rotor on the turbine generator stator in the 1st unit of Akkuyu NPP and the subsequent alignment of the turbine shaft will enable the placement of the turbine on the shaft rotator to be completed by the end of 2024.

The rotor, which is one of the equipment of the turbine unit of the first power unit of Akkuyu NPP, built by the Russian State Nuclear Energy Corporation Rosatom, was placed on the turbine generator stator.

The work was carried out under the guidance of engineers affiliated with AAEM, Rosatom’s Mechanical Engineering Department, which engineers, designs, accepts and supplies steam turbine equipment. The installation of the turbine generator rotor, a large-sized equipment weighing approximately 245 tons, was achieved by the main bridge crane of the turbine building.

Akkuyu Nükleer AŞ General Manager Sergei Butckikh, whose views were included in the statement, said, “Thanks to the coordinated work of our experts and the supplier company’s engineers, the process of placing the rotor on the stator, attaching it to the bearings and installing it was successfully carried out. The placement of the rotor allows connecting all auxiliary systems to the stator and installing the bearings. This “It will also enable experts to carry out the alignment of the turbo generator shaft line.” he said.

Installation of the turbine generator rotor allows the final stage of turbine plant assembly to proceed. Work continues on connecting the turbine and generator rotors in a single line in the turbine building of the 1st unit of Akkuyu NPP. Once this work is completed, the turbine will be ready to be placed on the impeller device and undergo a series of tests before commissioning.
