The face of the Turkish defense industry in the world, the TB2 S5 SİHA, was retired after a successful term of duty. The SİHA’s mission records include Operations Trench, Euphrates Shield, Olive Branch, Peace Spring, Spring Shield and Claw. The legendary SİHA, which performed more than 750 sorties during its duty, also made headlines in the world media frequently by exhibiting superior success in Libya, Ukraine, Mali, Burkina Faso and the Second Karabakh War. The national SİHA is also in the inventories of 6 NATO and 4 EU countries.
EXPORT CHAMPION
While TB2 generated $1.8 billion in export revenue in 2023 alone, it also became the export leader of the defense and aviation sector between 2021 and 2023. Export agreements have been signed with 33 countries for the Bayraktar TB2 SIHA to date.
OFFICIAL CEREMONY
A ceremony was held at the İstanbul Özdemir Bayraktar National Technology Center for the Bayraktar TB2 S5 UAV. General Metin Tokel, Land Aviation Commander Major General Zeynel Abidin Erginbaş, IHAS Brigade Commander Brigadier General Sertaç Öztürk, Baykar Chairman of the Board Selçuk Bayraktar and Baykar General Manager Haluk Bayraktar also attended the ceremony.
IT WILL BE A RESEARCH AIRCRAFT
It was stated that TB2 will be used as a research aircraft by Baykar to take part in training and test flights. In place of the retired SİHA, another TB-2 was gifted to the Land Forces Command. TB2s are currently serving within the Turkish Armed Forces, National Intelligence Organization, Gendarmerie General Command, General Directorate of Security, Coast Guard Command and General Directorate of Forestry.
