“Tending in the world” lands near Washington

A US special aircraft for the crisis case has landed near Washington. The E-4B Nightwatch was already used in the attacks on September 11, 2001.

At the US Air Force base Andrews near the capital Washington, one of the “doomsday aircraft” of the American Air Force has landed. The E-4B Nightwatch is a converted Boeing 747 that can be used as a command center. It serves the US President, the Minister of Defense and High military officers as a mobile operations center in the event of a crisis if it is no longer safe on the ground. The machine is also used as a service plane of the Defense Minister.

The United States has four such machines that are regularly on the road and are also used in natural disasters. But the landing near the capital has caused speculation.

As the magazine “Newsweek” reports, the machine’s name was also changed, from “Order6” to “Order01”. There are no official statements on the part of the US military. The E-4B Nightwatch can fly for hours and also refueled in the air. The equipment includes the defense against electromagnetic pulse and special protective shields. It is also said to be able to safely transport the president and his employees in the event of a nuclear war and a free radiation.

The main deck is divided into six functional areas: a work area for command, a conference room, a meeting room, a work area for the team, a communication area and a relaxation area.

An e-4b offers space for up to 111 people, including a joint team, the airwaffe’s flight crew, a maintenance and security component, a communication team and selected assistants.
