Instagram has changed its recognizable handwritten logo that it has been using for about 10 years. After the platform launched the new design, a discussion started in a short time on social media.
The new logo moved away from Instagram’s classic handwritten look and opted for a simpler design that combines handwritten and printed characters. However, the new font has been the target of criticism from some users due to its readability.
Mosseri: It was time for renewal
In his statement regarding the change, Instagram manager Adam Mosseri pointed out that the logo at the top of the application has not been changed for 10 years and stated that it is time to renew it.
Mosseri stated that the new logo has a simpler and more modern design, while also containing references to the simplicity and craftsmanship of the original design that makes Instagram special.
“Instagzam” comments became a trending topic
After the new design was shared, users’ comments were prompt. In particular, some social media users argued that the new font looked like “Instagzam” instead of “Instagram”.
While a group of users reacted to the change of the handwritten design that has been identified with the platform for years, there were also some who liked the new and more modern look. Thus, Instagram’s logo change after 10 years divided users into two.
