Several empty buses exploded in Israel

Several buses have exploded in Israel. However, they were not occupied by passengers.

Several buses have exploded in a southern suburb of Tel Aviv, according to the Israeli police, nobody was injured. The investigators nevertheless assume a suspected terrorist attack with explosive devices in the city of Jam. According to the Israeli newspaper “Haaretz”, three buses, which were empty at this point, exploded.

According to media reports, two further explosive devices were also defused. One of them was found in the city of Cholon south of Tel Aviv. In one case, a passenger reported to the bus driver that she found a suspicious object in the vehicle, reported Channel 13.

The broadcaster Kan reported that all three affected buses were parked at the time of the explosions. The explosive devices would have had contemporary lifters, the “Times of Israel” reported, citing Tel Aviv’s district police chief Haim Sargarof. The broadcaster Channel 12 suspected that they should all be brought to detonation at the same time. It is unclear why empty buses were the goal of the alleged attack.

According to Israeli reports, all buses, trains and strikes should be stopped and checked. Minister of Transport Miri Regev has instructed this in the event of a position assessment, several media reported. Accordingly, the checks have now been completed.

Israel’s Minister of Defense Israel Katz reported that the security forces reported that they will strengthen their missions in West Bank. He therefore spoke of attempted attacks Palestinian terrorist organizations. The police did not officially confirm this at first.

The “Times of Israel” quoted district police chief Sargarof, however, with the words that the explosive devices look like something that has its origin in West Bank. Accordingly, the police are still trying to find out how many suspects were involved in the alleged attack.
