At a press conference, Selenskyj surprisingly brings his resignation into the game. In exchange, he calls for the NATO accession of Ukraine.

Before the third anniversary of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, the incumbent President Wolodymyr Selenskyj commented at the head of the country in a press conference. With regard to the current efforts of the Trump government to have talks about a possible end of the war with Russia, Selenskyj made a surprising offer.

In exchange for NATO membership, if necessary, he would withdraw from the presidential office to secure peace. He adds that he wants to see US President Donald Trump as a partner of Ukraine and not just as an intermediary between Ukraine and Russia. Only a mediation is “not enough”.

In the past few days, the dialogue between Trump and Selenskyj has continued to worry after both sides had reproached each other. Trump even went so far as to blame Selenskyj personally for the ongoing war and described him as an illegitimate dictator.
