While the total size of the state contribution and participant fund amounts in the Private Pension System (BES) and Automatic Enrollment System (OKS) reached 2 trillion 401 billion 481.7 million lira, the total number of participants was 18 million 52 thousand 474.
BES, which aims to prevent individuals’ welfare levels from decreasing during their retirement periods and at the same time contributes to the country’s economy with the funds it creates by increasing the long-term savings level in the country, is taking firm steps forward to complete its 23rd year in Türkiye, starting on October 27, 2003.
THE NUMBER OF PENSIONERS FROM BES INCREASED TO 487 THOUSAND 118
According to the information compiled by the AA correspondent from the Pension Monitoring Center (EGM) data, the number of participants in BES as of the first half of this year was 10 million 304 thousand 546.
In the said period, the total size of the participants’ fund amount and the state contribution fund amount was 2 trillion 248 billion 252.7 million lira. The number of people retired from BES reached 487 thousand 118.
On the OKS side, the total size of OKS, calculated as the sum of the working fund amount and the state contribution fund amount, reached 153 billion 229 million lira as of the first 6 months of the year. In the same period, the number of participants in OKS was 7 million 747 thousand 928.
Thus, while the total fund size in BES and OKS reached 2 trillion 401 billion 481.7 million lira in the first half of the year, the total number of participants was recorded as 18 million 52 thousand 474. Of the total fund, 2 trillion 116 billion 113 million lira consisted of participant funds, and 285 billion 368.7 million lira was the state contribution fund amount.
MORE THAN 116 THOUSAND NEW PARTICIPANTS WERE INCLUDED IN THE POOL IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE YEAR
BES, OKS and state contributions in the two systems completed the year 2025 with a total fund size of 2 trillion 163 billion 164.7 million lira and 17 million 935 thousand 495 participants.
Considering the state contribution fund amounts of the participants in BES and OKS, there was an increase of 238 billion 317 million lira and 11 percent in the 6 months from the end of 2025 to June 30, 2026.
In the same period, the increase in the total number of participants in the BES pool was 116 thousand 979, and the increase rate was 0.7 percent.

The application, which was implemented in Türkiye in June 2021 and aims to include children under the age of 18 in the voluntary system, continues to grow.
As of the first half of the year, the fund size of participants under the age of 18 was 100 billion 713.9 million liras. While 80 billion 611.5 million lira of the fund amount was the funds accumulated by the participants, the state contribution fund amount was 20 billion 102.4 million lira.
While there are 1 million 718 thousand 943 children in the system, as of the effective date of the contract, the highest participation was seen at the age of zero with 170 thousand 105.
During the period from December 31, 2025 to June 30, 2026, the number of participants in the under-18 application increased by 77 thousand 961, while the fund size increased by 15 billion 730.5 million lira, including the state contribution.
