After a long break, the Russian Air Force is again using its strategic bombers against objects in Ukraine. The capital Kyiv was the target of a rocket attack.

The Russian military attacked the Ukrainian capital Kiev with missiles and drones. It was the first such combined attack in 73 days, said the head of the military administration, Serhiy Popko. Several missiles and drones were shot down. According to authorities in the Brovary district east of Kiev, one person was slightly injured by falling rocket debris and a building was destroyed by fire.

President Volodymyr Zelensky used the attack to once again push for the delivery of more anti-aircraft defenses. “It is important that our forces have something to protect the country from Russian terror,” the head of state wrote on Telegram. He is grateful to every partner who helps. Anti-aircraft defense not only preserves lives, but also protects infrastructure.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, two Ch-101 cruise missiles and two Iskander ballistic missiles were intercepted. Nationwide, 37 of 90 combat drones were also shot down. The location of 47 others was lost, mostly due to the use of electronic defense devices. Two more drones are said to have left Ukrainian airspace towards Russia and Belarus.

Ukraine has been resisting a Russian invasion for almost 1,000 days.
