Artificial intelligence and digital transformation of the World Economic Forum (Wef) in the town of Davos, Switzerland, created artificial intelligence and digital transformation. The artificial intelligence sector, which is currently $ 240 billion, is expected to approach approximately one trillion dollars by 2030.
According to a PWC report, artificial intelligence is expected to contribute to the global economy by 2030 and will increase by 15.7 trillion dollars and increase local economies by 26 percent.
China and the United States are the leading countries that will gain the biggest profit from artificial intelligence, while 70 percent of the 15.7 trillion dollar contribution will be seen in these two countries.
Chicago University Department of Economics Professor. Dr. Ufuk Akçiğit evaluated the observations of artificial intelligence discussions in Davos and the latest developments in international competition.
Expressing that artificial intelligence penetrates the economies very quickly, Akçiğit said that such fast development constitutes the excitement and panic atmosphere at the same time.
Akçiğit stated that he has received great excitement and investment in artificial intelligence technologies, especially in China and India, “Because for those countries, especially India, the economy is developing at a point where the muscles are very strong. On the other hand, there is a panic atmosphere in Europe, on the other hand In the face of these developments in Europe, Europe is not ready for this kind. I didn’t surprise me much to see it. ” he said.
“The next 10 years will be positive for India”
Pointing out how much prepared countries are related to how much prepared technologies are trained, Akçiğit said that India has started to invest in this area very seriously since the beginning of the 2010s.
Akçiğit stated that other countries would start to hang out behind India and continued his speech as follows:
“Therefore, the competition will be absolutely real. US President Donald Trump is talking about competition. On the other side, especially depending on the subsidies implemented by China, companies see opportunities in the country and American companies. In order to dance, there is a need for two people. . “
“There are opportunities for developing countries”
Expressing that there is no return in artificial intelligence technologies, Akçiğit said, “We have evolved in an artificial intelligence life. It is not easy to predict where these technologies will go, but probably artificial intelligence applications will increase exponentially.” he said.
Akçiğit pointed out that there are new opportunities for developing countries including Türkiye.
Stating that developing countries should take the steps correctly, Akçiğit said, “For example, Turkey needs to establish cloud systems as soon as possible and improve the internet infrastructure quickly. Apart from this, human capital is very important. If you have human capital, firms and entrepreneurs will use it. They will want to produce this business in Turkey and this will be the return of the country to the country. ” He said.
Akçiğit stated that universities also played an important role at this point and that the scissors are very narrowing among the applications of the companies with the researches carried out in universities.
Emphasizing that this means a new opportunity window, Akçiğit completed his words as follows:
“With universities, if we can bring the business world closer, a very serious synergy will emerge because new technologies will develop, but also the new resources for universities from the technologies. Intelligence is being talked about, time is going very fast and we need to take our steps quickly. “
