The war, which started with the attacks of the USA and Israel against Iran, has turned into a multi-layered crisis that directly affects not only the land and air space, but also a wide geopolitical line extending from the Eastern Mediterranean to the Persian Gulf. Just before the conflict, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee’s words, “According to the Torah, the lands extending from the Nile to the Euphrates belong to Israel” and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s vision of a comprehensive Mediterranean-centered alliance were met with harsh reactions in regional capitals, especially Türkiye. In the Eastern Mediterranean; The search for a new axis, which is expected to consist of Israel, Greece, Greek Cyprus, the United Arab Emirates and India, poses new conflict risks and has upset the balances in the Middle East. According to analysts, it is a broad power struggle that includes the Eastern Mediterranean and extends from energy lines to maritime dominance, from alliances to trade corridors. For this reason, all eyes are on how the multi-layered confrontation will take shape and in which direction the regional balance of power will evolve.

NEW POWER CENTER

Strategist and Intelligence Expert Prof. interprets the new paradigm centered on the Middle East, Africa and Eurasia. Dr. Sait Yılmaz, on the other hand, mentioned that the alliance between Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Pakistan has recently extended to Somalia and Libya since the Karabakh War in 2020. “On the second axis, there is the African-Eurasian dimension. The China Economic Corridor that will come from China to Pakistan and then to Türkiye is expected,” said Prof. Dr. Yılmaz explained the new formations in the regional equation as follows: “In the Middle East, the quartet of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt are preparing for the aftermath of the US operation in Iran. They are seeking to establish balance rather than creating a center of power as an alliance. Saudi Arabia and Egypt duo; “While targeting the Israel-United Arab Emirates (UAE) alliance in regions such as Sudan and Somalia, Pakistan is developing this alliance against India.”

TRIPLE MILITARY ALLIANCE

“Egypt added the problem of immigrants from Sudan to the problem it had with Ethiopia due to the water problem of the Nile. Cairo had to attack from the air the convoy carrying supplies to the UAE-Israel-backed Rapid Support Forces in Libya. For this reason, Egypt is at odds with the Haftar administration in the east of Libya. On the other hand, While the Joint Strategic Defense Agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia considers an attack on one of the parties as an attack on the other, the automatic military response also includes the nuclear dimension. “The main reason here is the unpredictability of US-Israeli projections.”

THE POWER OF Türkiye TSK

“Saudi Arabia was triggered by the US’s failure to provide protection for Israel’s attack on Qatar in September 2025. Pakistan, on the other hand, is in trouble with its border with Afghanistan and is faced with sinister intelligence operations, including US support for the separatists in Baluchistan. The US wants to distance Pakistan from China. Pakistan, with its nuclear power and well-trained army; Saudi Arabia with its money and political weight; Türkiye, on the other hand, stands out in alliance with its defense industry and army with operational experience. “Following in Türkiye’s footsteps, Pakistan also made a defense agreement with Somalia.”

BRIDGE Türkiye

“It is certain that the West will prefer India over China-friendly Pakistan,” said Prof. Dr. Yılmaz continued his warnings as follows: “Pakistan supplied 81 percent of its weapons needs from China in 2024. Chinese private military companies are working in Pakistan to protect the Road-Belt Project facilities and establishing an intelligence base. Pakistan, on the other hand, aims to reach the Western defense market through Türkiye.

APPROACH WITH Türkiye

“In September 2025, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan signed a strategic agreement centered on the Indo-Middle East line. However, relations are progressing on fragile ground as the long-term visions and regional priorities of the two countries do not fully coincide. On the other hand, It seems that Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Egypt follow a close policy, especially regarding the Somalia and Sudanese file. Recently, Pakistan has also been added to this equation. It is on the agenda that Saudi Arabia will finance the warplanes that Pakistan plans to sell to Sudan. This picture indicates that a new security and defense cooperation architecture may take shape along the Red Sea and Horn of Africa line. “It also shows that the power competition in the region is deepening not only through diplomatic but also military and financial means.”
