Rehab approved, what happens next? What you need to know about it

After around three weeks, the decision on the rehabilitation application arrives in the mailbox. What happens after approval?

Once you have submitted all of the required documents to the rehabilitation provider, there is a three-week deadline until a decision is made. The deadline is extended by 14 days if the provider requests a medical report. But what happens next once you have received the “okay” for rehab? You have to be prepared for that.

You were allowed to specify several rehabilitation facilities in your application, but the provider decides on the final clinic. As a rule, the provider accommodates the request for a specific clinic. The prerequisites are sufficient capacities and fulfillment of the internal decision-making criteria.

As soon as you have received a positive notification in your mailbox, your rehab is considered officially approved. In the event of a positive result, the clinic will contact you in the first three weeks after submitting the application. The carrier has 14 days to check whether it is responsible and the documents are complete. After another week you will receive mail from the clinic.

Unfortunately, once your rehab has been approved, the wait is never over. On average, it takes between three and eight weeks until you start your appointment at the clinic. In urgent cases, an expedited procedure is possible. The rehabilitation clinic will inform you in an invitation letter when your treatment will begin. Important information such as packing lists, clinic rules and special features are usually also included. You can find your contact person in the letterhead if you have any questions.

The urgent rehabilitation procedure can be considered if medical reasons require priority admission to the clinic. However, the term does not mean that you will be accepted within a very short time. Expect to wait between three and eight weeks until a place in the rehabilitation clinic is available for you. You will find out from your confirmation whether the admission is urgent. The chosen clinic will be informed by the payer and will contact you as soon as possible.
