A refugee shelter in Lower Saxony caught fire. One person died and a police officer is said to be in critical condition.
One person died in a fire at a refugee shelter in Buchholz in der Nordheide. At least two other people were injured, a fire department spokesman in the Lower Saxony town said on Monday. Among them were a police officer and an employee of the shelter. According to “Bild”, the refugee’s life is in danger. The fire is now under control.
The accommodation consists of several complexes with residential containers. One of the complexes, consisting of 30 containers, burned down, according to the fire department spokesman.
