Trump’s personal doctor confirms that the US President is in excellent condition after a major health check. He still has two recommendations.

According to his doctor, US President Donald Trump is in “excellent health” – but should lose weight. The president is “fully capable of carrying out all duties as commander in chief of the army and head of state,” said Sean Barbabella on Saturday after a major health test earlier in the week.

Trump has, among other things, good heart and lung values and generally a good physique. However, he was advised to “increase physical activity and lose weight” as a preventive measure. A “comprehensive neurological examination” demonstrated a normal mental state. Trump was also tested for depression and anxiety. The doctor did not give a reason for a skin treatment on the neck in March and did not mention an MRI scan in October.

Trump gains almost seven kilograms in a year

During the preventive consultation, Trump also received “information on diet and a recommendation to take low-dose aspirin,” the doctor explained, referring to the blood-thinning drug. According to the report presented, the 1.91 meter tall president currently weighs 108 kilograms; at the previous health check a good year ago it was 101.6 kilograms.

Immediately after his health check on Tuesday, Trump announced that everything “went perfectly.” He will turn 80 on June 14 and is the oldest president ever sworn in in the United States. Trump often emphasizes that he is more energetic and fitter than his Democratic predecessor Joe Biden. Recently, however, bruises on Trump’s right hand, swelling in his ankles and bouts of drowsiness during official appointments had raised questions about his fitness.

During the health check, a bruise and irritation on the back of the hand were also found, the doctor’s report said. The reason for this is obviously “frequent handshaking while simultaneously taking aspirin for cardiovascular prevention.” Barbabella also pointed out slight swelling in her lower legs, which had improved compared to the previous year.
