The total amount of payments made with credit cards, debit cards and prepaid cards in September increased by 35 percent compared to the same month last year, reaching 2 trillion 965.5 billion liras.

Accordingly, as of September, the number of credit cards in Türkiye was 155 million, debit cards 225.2 million, and prepaid cards 98.7 million. Compared to the same month last year, the number of credit cards increased by 11 percent, the number of debit cards increased by 4 percent, and the number of prepaid cards decreased by 7 percent. The total number of cards increased by 3 percent, reaching 478.9 million.
The total amount of payments made with credit cards, debit cards and prepaid cards in September increased by 35 percent compared to the same month last year and reached 2 trillion 965.5 billion liras. 2 trillion 515.3 billion lira of these payments were made with credit cards, 442 billion lira with debit cards and 8.2 billion lira with prepaid cards.
In the same period, the payment amount increased by 35 percent in credit cards and 39 percent in debit cards, while it decreased by 44 percent in prepaid cards.
The number of payments made by cards increased by 11 percent to 1.95 billion. Of this, 1 billion 137.7 million were credit cards, 783 million were debit cards, and 34 million were prepaid cards.
The growth rate in the number of payments was 12 percent for credit cards and 14 percent for debit cards on an annual basis. The number of payments made with prepaid cards decreased by 40 percent.
THE AMOUNT OF ONLINE CARD PAYMENTS REACHED 901 BILLION LIRA
The amount of card payments made online last month increased by 35 percent on an annual basis and reached 901 billion liras. The share of online card payments in total was 30 percent.
In the same period, the number of online card payments increased by 14 percent, reaching 262.9 million. The share of card payments made online was 14 percent of the total.
The number of contactless payments made with cards increased by 9 percent to 1 billion 301.3 million. The amount of contactless payments increased by 43 percent in the same period, reaching 1 trillion 24.5 billion lira. In September, 4 out of every 5 card payments made in-store were made contactless.
