Kamala Harris received support from rapper Eminem at a campaign rally. Former President Obama caused enthusiasm with a performance.
US rapper Eminem took part in a campaign rally in Detroit to thunderous applause and supported US Vice President Kamala Harris.
The musician took the stage to introduce former President Barack Obama and in his speech emphasized the importance of expressing one’s opinion. “I don’t think anyone wants an America where you have to fear retaliation for speaking your mind,” Eminem said. “I believe that Kamala Harris represents a future for this country in which these and many other freedoms remain protected.”
Obama, who took the stage after Eminem’s speech, thrilled the audience by performing parts of Eminem’s rap song “Lose Yourself.” The fans went crazy, as can be seen and heard on videos of the performance. They waved Kamala Harris posters and chanted “We love you, Obama.”
The event took place as part of the election campaign for the Harris-Walz team. Detroit is in the state of Michigan, one of the seven so-called swing states in which both parties have a chance of winning. Experience has shown that many other states, such as California or Idaho, clearly vote for the Democrats or the Republicans.
To win the US presidential election, 270 votes from voters (Electoral College) from the 50 states are needed. In Michigan it’s about 15 electoral votes.
