Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made statements regarding the Simultaneous Independent Triple Runway Operations that will be implemented at Istanbul Airport. Stating that Istanbul Airport is a turning point in aviation and that it contains many new technology systems, Minister Uraloğlu noted that they are continuing to work on increasing passenger capacity and said, “On April 17, we will start the practice of simultaneous landing and takeoff on the 3 runways of Istanbul Airport. “This system that we will implement in our country will be a first in Europe.” he said.

DELAYS WILL BE MINIMUM

Noting that the work is being carried out within the State Airports Authority (DHMİ), Minister Uraloğlu stated that with the new application, simultaneous landings and simultaneous takeoffs can be made from 3 runways, and that they will provide an effective and dynamic capacity management at Istanbul Airport. Uraloğlu said, “In this way, we will minimize operational delays. We will also maximize fuel savings and flight efficiency. The work will also include new runways that are under construction. “With the commissioning of new runways, the efficiency of air traffic operations will increase in many aspects, especially taxi times.” he said.
