The mother of an Israeli hostage accuses Prime Minister Netanyahu to condemn the hostages with the planned intake of the city of Gaza. There were only a few days left, she warns.
Relatives of Israeli hostages, which have been held in the Gaza Strip for almost two years, have confirmed their demand for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza War. “Our children have been captured in Gaza for 687 days,” said Einav Zangauker, whose son Matan was kidnapped on October 7, 2023, before the military headquarters in Tel Aviv.
“I contact the people of Israel: (Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu can still sign a deal that brings ten living hostages and 18 corpses,” said Zangauker. If the prime minister does this, he could immediately negotiate the return of the remaining hostages in return for an end to the war, she said. “Netanyahu can bring my Matan back, and the remaining hostages that a Schoah (Holocaust) go through.”
She accused the Prime Minister of torpedoing an agreement with the Islamist Hamas: “Instead of agreeing to a deal, he gallops in the direction of taking Gaza.” Netanyahu condemn the hostages to death and the people of Israel to an eternal, unnecessary war. “We only stay a few more days to stop this,” said Zangauker. “When Gaza begins, there will be no deal. It is now or never.”
The terrorist organization Hamas said on Monday that it had submitted a “positive answer” to the intermediaries for a new proposal for a ceasefire. According to media reports, this is an adapted version of a previously negotiated proposal by the US specialist Steve Witkoff. This provides for a 60 -day fire break, while the ten living hostages are released in return for Palestinian prisoners. In total there are still 50 hostages in Gaza, of which at least 20 are still alive.
Netanyahu approved the plan to take Gaza, but at the same time promise new negotiations on ceasefire with Hamas. So far, however, no Israeli delegation has been sent on the way.
