For the first time, Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu publicly confirmed the intention of bringing the entire Gaza Strip under Israeli control. Israel does not want to rule the area.
The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has first publicly confirmed that Israel wants to take over full control over the entire Gaza strip. Then he should be handed over to the “armed forces” that would “properly rule” the coastal strip. “We have the intention,” Netanyahu told Fox News on Thursday when asked whether Israel will take control of the entire Gaza strip. “We don’t want to keep it. We want to have a security limit. We don’t want to rule it,” he added.
A speculation had been speculated for days. The United Nations (UN) had therefore already described such plans as “deeply alarming” on Tuesday. “In this regard, international law is clear: the Gaza Strip is and must remain an integral part of the future Palestinian state,” said the deputy UN Secretary General Miroslav Jenca. Taking the entire Gaza Strip by Israel can have catastrophic consequences and further endanger the life of the remaining hostages in Gaza.
However, US President Donald Trump did not want to comment on such considerations on Tuesday. He could “really say nothing. This is largely decided by Israel,” he had explained. The United States is the most important military supporter of Israel. Trump had proposed a takeover of the Gaza Strip by the United States at the beginning of the year. The idea was rejected by many Arab countries, the United Nations, the Palestinians and Human Rights.
