Evaluating the decision of the Agricultural Forestry Council Decision on the increase of the share of sheep animal husbandry around 29 percent in red meat production to 35 percent, Nihat Çelik, the President of the Central Union of Turkey Breeding Sheep Goat Breeders.
One of the most important decisions in the final declaration is aimed at pastures, Çelik said that the most important feed source of ovine livestock is pastures and these areas should be protected, he said.

Çelik stated that one of the most important decisions concerning ovine livestock is related to the shepherds and continued:
“We consider it vital to ensure that the social security opportunities of the livestock enterprises are provided for shepherds, the determination of professional competences, as well as the establishment of Shepherd Academies and Applied Training Centers.”
