Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat held the Business World Roundtable Meeting with European Commission Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis in Brussels within the scope of the EU-Turkey High Level Trade Dialogue.

Bolat said the following in his statement on the subject via X:

“Today, we held the Business Roundtable Meeting within the scope of the EU-Turkey High Level Trade Dialogue in Brussels with the Vice President of the European Commission, Mr. Valdis Dombrovskis, and the heads of many business organizations from Turkey and the EU. In the afternoon, we will start our intergovernmental talks.

At the meeting, we thoroughly evaluated the functioning of our Customs Union, the current situation in bilateral trade and the expectations and suggestions of the business world, especially the modernization of the Customs Union, for the further development of economic relations.

At the meeting, where we saw that our business worlds agreed that strengthening EU-Turkey economic relations and modernizing the Customs Union are in the common interest of both Turkey and the EU, we reached a consensus that the joint steps to be taken will make significant contributions to increasing the competitiveness of the EU and Turkey in global value chains.

In this context, we will continue our efforts with determination to further deepen our commercial and economic relations with the EU, our most important trade partner, and to strengthen them by expanding them to different areas.”
