In a small French town, a mayor named Hittler is fighting for re-election. One of his challengers is called Zielinski.
In Arcis-sur-Aube, France, two politicians are running against each other in a municipal runoff election, whose names could have an exciting connotation for history and geopolitics enthusiasts. Charles Hittler and Antoine Renault- Zielinski are up for election alongside Annie Soucat.
A man whose name closely resembles that of the former Nazi dictator is running in the small town’s second round of local elections against a man whose name sounds similar to that of current Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Hittler is the current mayor of Arcis-sur-Aube and led after the first round of the local elections with 37.81 percent, Soucat followed with 32.2 percent of the vote and Renault- Zielinksi was in third place with 29.99 percent. The runoff election will take place next Sunday.
