“Ladies and Gentlemen,
I hereby cancel my supplementary nursing care insurance with the number (insurance number) as soon as possible. Please confirm the cancellation to me in writing, stating the termination date.
Best regards,
(Name, place, date, signature)”
If you are dissatisfied with your existing supplementary care insurance or can no longer afford the premiums, you don’t have to cancel it straight away. It is often worth talking to the insurer about alternatives.
Some insurers also offer to suspend the contract for a certain period of time. No contributions are due in this phase, but there is no insurance cover. This option is suitable if your financial burden is only temporary – for example due to unemployment or illness.
Changing tariffs within your existing contract can also be a solution. A cheaper tariff may be available that offers fewer services but remains affordable. It is important that the change does not require a new health check and that the previous start of the contract remains intact. There is no option to make supplementary nursing care insurance non-contributory for an unlimited period of time.
