Reports of attacks with drones and marching aircraft in Ukraine indicate a expected stroke of retaliation in Russia. EU aids for the attacked country expire almost simultaneously.
Russia attacked Ukraine at night with an unusually violent wave of drone attacks and marching aircraft. Several news portals reported massive attacks on the capital Kiev and other larger cities and regions in the west of the country. In Kiev, at least four people were killed and 20 others were injured, reported the “The Kyiv Independent” portal, citing Mayor Vitali Klitschko. Air alarm was triggered in all regions of Ukraine.
According to the information, the Ukrainian Air Force warned that several Russian bombers had started and that there were probably already shot out of a cruise mission. Explosions were reported in several cities. The information could initially not be checked independently.

As a result of the attacks, several fire broke out in residential buildings in Kiev, and other civilian infrastructure also went into flames, the “Kyiv Independent” reported. In addition to explosions, ruins falling in several parts of the city were reported. According to the military administration, Kiev can occur in the eastern part.
Russia Schwor Ristition
It was initially unclear whether it was the expected large -scale retaliation attack in Russia after the Ukrainian blow against the Russian bomber fleet last weekend.
In the surprise attack, the Ukrainian secret service had attacked several Russian military airfields after months of preparation, from which fighter planes had previously started to attack attacks against Ukraine. The Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj celebrated the attack of his secret service SBU as a “absolutely brilliant success”. It was the most extensive operation of Ukraine in the course of the war.
The SBU said that in total the attacks, including even one at Irkutsk in distant Siberia, had been destroyed more than 40 machines with a total value of $ seven billion (6.1 billion euros). Russia has lost 34 percent of its strategic bomber fleet, which can stop leaking missiles.
This high number could not be confirmed on the basis of published US satellite images. However, the recordings show several destroyed or at least damaged fighter bombers of the types of Tupolew Tu-95 and TU-22. Moscow used these planes for conventional attacks on Ukraine; But they also belonged to the air -supported nuclear deterrence in Russia.
The Russian military only spoke of a few damaged aircraft at Murmansk and Irkutsk and described the attacks as a terrorist act.
After the attack that was embarrassing for him, the Kremlin initially groaned on his own ground. Putin’s annoyance was then first public by US President Donald Trump. After his phone call to the Kremlin chief, Trump said that Putin “said very clearly” that he had to react to the attacks by Ukraine.
Later, Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskow indirectly announced retaliation for the strokes against the bomber fleet. He said Russia’s answer would take place at a time and with the means that “our military considers necessary”.
EU trade aids for Ukraine expired
Practically at the same time for the Russian attacks, the EU’s calibration releases for Ukraine, with which the country was supported for three years. According to the EU Commission, transitional rules came into force at midnight in Central European times, which should apply until negotiations on a new trade agreement have been concluded.
Around 100 days after the beginning of the Russian war of aggression on the neighboring country in 2022, Ukrainian goods introduced to the EU were freed by tariffs. With this, Kiev wanted to strengthen European supporters. The measures were extended last year, but at the same time stricter requirements for certain food imports were introduced into the EU. The support from customs exemption was a thorn in the side of many farmers, especially in the east of the EU.
