A man was arrested in Washington, DC, who brought Molotowcocktails to the Capitol. He apparently planned violent acts against several Republicans.
A man was arrested on Monday in the US capital Washington, DC because he apparently came to the Capitol with Molotowcocktails. There he is said to have planned attacks on several high -ranking politicians. According to the US magazine “Politico”, he announced to the police to be the spokesman for the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, the Defense Minister Pete Hegseth and the finance minister Scott Bessent. He wanted to kill these politicians.
The suspect is said to be Ryan Michael English from the US state of Massachusett. He stood up to the Capitol police with the words: “I would like to face. I am here to kill the finance minister,” as reported by the US broadcaster CNBC. According to its own statements, English led the knife and two Molotow cocktails, which were made from small vodka bottles and prepared with fabrics soaked in disinfectants.
In his car parked nearby, the investigators later found other materials for the construction of Molotow cocktails, such as high-proof vodka and a t-shirt cut into stripes. English is now being prosecuted, among other things, because of the unauthorized transportation of a firearm and the carrying of a fire in the Capitol.
The security forces also found a farewell letter in English. In this he apparently turns to a woman. “Judith, kind god, I’m so sorry. You have to understand that I slowly perish because of my heart. It is outrageous, but I can’t do anything while the Nazis kill my sister. I love you. It’s terrible . I’m sorry.

English explained to the investigators that he had broken up from Massachusetts on Sunday to attack Johnson and Hegseth. However, after he had learned that Bessent for the Office of Finance Minister was confirmed on Monday, he also took him into account as the goal.
Once at the Capitol, however, he recognized that he would hardly achieve better due to the safety precautions. The court documents said that at that moment he was thinking about making a fatal escalation through a confrontation with the police – a scenario that is often referred to as “Suicide by Cop”.
After finding that he could not attack the Republicans, which was well guarded by security forces, he also thought about attacking the Heritage Foundation building. This is an ultra-conservative US thinking factory that is responsible for the development of the “Project 2025”.
The “Project 2025” is a more than 900 -page paper in which a radical conversion of the US political system is outlined. His authors come mainly from the environment of the first Trump administration, one of the authors, Stephen Miller, is now considered one of the most important advisors of the current president. Among other things, the paper provides to dismiss up to 50,000 state employees in order to eliminate a supposed “deep state”, ie a shadow state, in the US administration.
Before the election, Trump had always tried to distance himself from paper. In fact, on the first day of his new term, he issued decrees that would implement a large part of the proposals made in the “Project 2025”. However, many of Trump’s presidential orders are still unclear whether they can really be realized or whether independent dishes will stop.
