Lemons became the most expensive in Istanbul in July

The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) announced the products with the highest increase and decrease in retail prices in the city in July, as well as the change rates.

Accordingly, the retail prices of 111 of the 242 products in the Istanbul Wage Earners Living Index of the ITO increased, the prices of 49 decreased, and the prices of 82 products remained unchanged.

Lemon, which is in the fresh and dried fruit and vegetable subgroup, was the product with the highest price increase in July, with 53.34 percent.

Prices increased by 50.51 percent for supplementary schoolbooks in the culture, education and entertainment expenditures group, by 38 percent for electricity in the housing expenditures group, by 33.31 percent for green beans in the fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup of food expenditures. In the health and personal care expenditures group, the cost of x-rays increased by 23.66 percent, the cost of laboratory tests increased by 23.61 percent and the cost of hospital surgery increased by 22.68 percent.

WOMEN’S BLOUSE PRICE DROPPED BY 18.31 PERCENT

In July, blouse prices in the women’s clothing subgroup of clothing expenditures decreased by 18.31 percent. Thus, women’s blouses became the product whose prices decreased the most.

Other products with decreasing prices were recorded as children’s blouses with 13.14 percent in the children’s clothing subgroup, skirts with 10.24 percent in the women’s clothing subgroup, plums with 10 percent in the food expenditures fresh dried vegetables and fruits subgroup, dresses with 9.73 percent in the women’s clothing subgroup, melons with 8.73 percent, eggplants with 8.10 percent and pears with 7.44 percent in the food expenditures fresh dried vegetables and fruits subgroup.
