5 K2 Kamikaze Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, taking off from Keşan Flight Training and Test Center, successfully performed ‘right stage’, ‘line’ and ‘V’ formation flights in multiple tests carried out over Saros Gulf for 2 days. In test scenarios, K2 platforms positioned themselves relative to the aircraft in the flock through artificial intelligence, sensors and software, maintaining their place in the fleet without error and completing the missions successfully. K2 Kamikaze UAV can successfully implement different formations such as ‘Turan’ and ‘wall’ formation.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE SUPPORTED HERD SYNERGY
K2 Kamikaze UAV, which operates with artificial intelligence-supported swarm synergy, brings a new approach to the ‘expendable’ class in the literature. In the next step of the R&D studies, it is planned to implement versions of the platform that can return to the base after dropping its ammunition on the target and offer reuse opportunities.
COST EFFECTIVE APPROACH
The aim of the project is to minimize the use of high-cost ammunition and launch platforms with high effectiveness and mass production at low cost. This approach aims to neutralize critical targets of the enemy in a cost-effective manner.
NON-INTERRUPTED MISSION AGAINST ELECTRONIC WARFARE
The navigation architecture of the K2 Kamikaze UAV was designed to operate in electronic warfare environments where global positioning systems (GNSS) are not available or are subject to intense jamming. The platform can make location estimation by visually scanning landforms through the gimbal camera and the night vision camera system under the body. In this way, the K2 Kamikaze UAV can autonomously move towards its target by performing uninterrupted navigation with its visual scanning ability, even in environments where GNSS signals are not fully available.
VISUAL LOCK-ON AND PRECISION HITTING
The EO/IR gimbal camera system on it gives the platform both reconnaissance and surveillance capability and allows it to accurately locate the target with its visual locking feature. The platform also has coordinate-based precision strike capability. In addition to these features, its line-of-sight (LOS) and beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) satellite data link maximizes operational flexibility.
THE LARGEST KAMİKAZE UAV IN ITS CLASS
K2 Kamikaze UAV, the largest kamikaze platform in its class, provides logistics flexibility in the field with its take-off and landing capability from short runways. The platform, which has a maximum take-off weight of 800 kilograms, differs from its peers with its ability to carry 200 kilograms of warhead ammunition that offers high destructive power. Its range exceeding 2 thousand kilometers, speed above 200 km/h and endurance in the air for more than 13 hours enable the platform to perform long-range strategic missions.
