JPMorgan analysts stated that the recent turmoil in the investment funds sector in Türkiye poses a serious downward risk on economic growth.
The turmoil, which started with the default of the funds managed by Tera Portföy last month, continued with the regulatory authorities’ decision to liquidate more than 100 funds with an amount reaching 1 trillion TL.
JPMorgan said in its research note: “We expect the turmoil in the fund sector to suppress economic activity in the fourth quarter of 2026. This turmoil poses a serious downside risk to the 3 percent growth forecast for 2026.”
