The Trump confidant will lead the US foreign intelligence service in the future. He doesn’t have a good reputation with Democrats.
The US Senate has confirmed John Ratcliffe as the new director of the CIA. 74 senators voted for him and 25 against him, including many Democrats. Ratcliffe was then sworn in at the White House by Vice President JD Vance, the CIA announced. The former congressman from Texas is considered a confidant of President Donald Trump. Ratcliffe was previously co-chair of a conservative think tank close to Trump. During the Republican’s first term in office, he served as intelligence coordinator. At the time, the Democrats accused Ratcliffe, among other things, of abusing his position for political purposes.
