Valet fees, which have become a frequent topic of discussion in the upmarket districts of Istanbul, will be placed on a fixed tariff as of 2025.
According to the news of Yener Karadeniz from Ekonomim; In the instruction sent to the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), the Governorship of Istanbul requested the creation of a price tariff for the valet service. In the draft regulation prepared after the price gap between businesses providing valet services reached a cliff level, Istanbul was divided into 3 different economic zones, and the amounts to be determined for valet fees became final.
According to the regulation accepted unanimously at the November council meeting of ITO, the maximum valet service fee, excluding parking fees, is 200-300 TL in shopping malls, 150-200 TL in hospitals, 250-400 TL in hotels, restaurants and entertainment centers, and 250-400 TL in airports. It was determined as 500 TL. Maximum valet fees determined according to region and business types will come into force in all of Istanbul as of January 1, 2025.
PRICES WILL INCREASE ACCORDING TO DISTRICTS
With the new regulation, the districts in Istanbul will be divided into three different regions in the tariffs to be taken as basis and pricing will be made according to these regions.
Region 1
In the 1st Region, which includes Şişli, Beşiktaş, Kadıköy, Bakırköy, Fatih, Beyoğlu and Üsküdar, a ceiling price of 300 TL will be applied for shopping malls, 200 TL for hospitals, and 400 TL for hotels, restaurants and entertainment centers.
Region 2
In the 2nd Region, which includes Ataşehir, Başakşehir, Ümraniye, Sarıyer, Tuzla, Maltepe, Beylikdüzü, Pendik, Esenyurt, Bahçelievler, Zeytinburnu, Bağcılar, Kartal, Bayrampaşa, Kağıthane, Küçükçekmece, Güngören, Büyükçekmece, Eyüpsultan, Adalar, Beykoz and Avcılar. The maximum valet fee in shopping malls is 250 TL, in hospitals It will be determined as 150 TL, and 300 TL in hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues.
Region 3
In the 3rd Region, which includes Gaziosmanpaşa, Çekmeköy, Esenler, Silivri, Sancaktepe, Sultangazi, Arnavutköy, Çatalca, Şile and Sultanbeyli, the maximum valet service is 200 TL in shopping malls, 150 TL in hospitals, and 250 TL in hotels, restaurants and entertainment centers. will be. These prices will be valid for institutions affiliated with ITO.
VALET FEE AT AIRPORTS WILL BE 500 TL
While it was learned that there are more than 300 companies providing valet services in 81 provinces of Turkey, no tariff changes were made at airports, which are one of the areas where valet services are provided most intensively.
In the area where more than 20 thousand citizens are employed, valets will continue to provide service at the airports in Istanbul with an upper limit of 500 lira.
HEAVY PENALTIES WILL BE IMPOSED TO THOSE WHO DO NOT COMPLY.
While it is stated that heavy fines will be imposed by the Istanbul Governorship on businesses that do not comply with the new tariff, there is no final figure yet regarding the limit of these fines.
The service, which was described as valet terrorism for years due to its practices, was defined as a profession with the regulation issued in 2020 and standards were set for this profession. While it was required for all employees in the sector to obtain a professional qualification certificate until 2023, the Vocational Qualifications Authority affiliated to the Ministry of National Education was appointed for this purpose. Those who want to become valets apply to these institutions, receive training, and then gain professional qualifications by taking the exam.
