Istanbul Airport was awarded the title of “World’s Best Airport” by the US-based travel magazine Travel and Leisure.
According to the statement made by Istanbul Airport operator İGA, Istanbul Airport was deemed worthy of first place by receiving 95.79 points from readers in the “World’s Top 10 International Airports” survey organized annually by Travel and Leisure.
The award ceremony of Travel and Leisure magazine, which reaches more than 16 million readers every month, was held in New York, USA. The award was presented to Mehmet Büyükkaytan, Deputy General Manager Responsible for Operations at İGA Istanbul Airport.
Büyükkaytan, whose speech he made at the ceremony was included in the statement, stated that he was pleased to come first in the voting in which he competed with his rivals from all over the world.
Büyükkaytan said, “We believe that traveling is a unique story and that each trip should offer a flawless experience tailored to different needs and expectations. As İGA Istanbul Airport, we shape our services according to the needs of our passengers, keeping passenger satisfaction at the forefront. In this context, we are very pleased that these services, which we offer with the contributions of our colleagues, are appreciated by our passengers themselves.”
In the research conducted based on the opinions of Travel and Leisure magazine readers, airports are evaluated in terms of access, check-in, security, food and beverage areas, shopping and design.
Other airports that were voted on in the survey included Changi Airport (Singapore), Hamad International Airport (Qatar), Dubai International Airport, Incheon International Airport (South Korea), Abu Dhabi International Airport (United Arab Emirates), Haneda International Airport (Japan), Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (India), Hong Kong International Airport and Osaka International Airport (Japan).
İGA Istanbul Airport participated in the Travel and Leisure magazine survey for the first time in 2021 and became the first Turkish airport on the list.
