After Israel and the Hamas terrorists agreed on a peace plan, preparations are in full swing. Especially for the hostages who are still alive.

The Israeli military says it is preparing to implement a first phase of the US peace plan following the agreement between Israel and the Islamist Hamas. During a nightly assessment of the situation, the chief of general staff ordered all armed forces to “prepare strong defensive measures,” the military said. The deployment of the armed forces takes place in accordance with the instructions of the political leadership and the phases of the agreement.

The Chief of General Staff has ordered to prepare the execution of the operation to return the hostages, but also “to be prepared for all scenarios,” the Israeli army said on Thursday in the online service X. The army also said it welcomed the agreement on the release of the hostages.

Two years after the start of the Gaza war, Israel and the Islamist Hamas agreed overnight to implement the first phase of a US peace plan, as US President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social. Accordingly, all hostages should be released soon and Israel will withdraw its troops to an agreed line. Of the remaining 48 hostages in the hands of the terrorists, 20 are said to be still alive.

The war began with the Hamas attack on the morning of October 7, 2023, in which, according to Israeli information, 1,200 people were killed and 251 were kidnapped as hostages in the Gaza Strip. According to health authorities, more than 67,000 Palestinians have been killed in the subsequent Israeli military offensive.

The Israeli military will “continue to work to achieve the goals of the war and defend the citizens of the State of Israel on all fronts,” the statement continued.

Hamas called on Trump and the guarantor powers to ensure that Israel fully implements a ceasefire, the statement added. Authorities in the Gaza Strip, meanwhile, urged residents to remain cautious and avoid movement until an official Palestinian announcement confirms a ceasefire. They warned of possible Israeli violations. According to a Hamas official, the live hostages are expected to be handed over within 72 hours of the Israeli government’s approval of the deal.

Despite the negotiations, Israel continued its offensive in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, although attacks on Gaza City have recently been scaled back at Trump’s insistence. According to the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health in Gaza, at least eight people have been killed by Israeli shelling in the past 24 hours.

According to Trump, the United States will play a role in rebuilding the Gaza Strip and maintaining peace and security. “We will be involved in helping them succeed and ensuring that it remains peaceful,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News on Wednesday (local time). He is “very confident that there will be peace in the Middle East.”
