In the West Bank, a Palestinian approaches an Israeli army base with a knife. He doesn’t get far.
Israeli soldiers shot dead a Palestinian in the West Bank who approached them with a knife. The army said the man was already at the entrance to an army base near Hebron, south of Jerusalem, when fire was opened.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said it had been informed by Israeli authorities that a 23-year-old attacker had been killed.
According to Palestinian figures, almost 700 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank, which has been occupied by Israel since 1967, since the beginning of the Gaza war almost a year ago. They died in fighting with the army, in attempted attacks on Israelis and by radical Israeli settlers.
