According to the United States, Israel has informed the United States about the attack on Iran in advance. “They knew about the attack,” said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “What you will do now? I leave President Trump. He makes his decisions independently,” he said.

With a view to US President Donald Trump, he said: “I will not speak for him. He does it very convincingly and determined. He said that Iran cannot have nuclear weapons and must not have any enrichment skills.”

Trump himself had also spoken of the fact that he was in the picture of the Israeli attack. When asked what kind of warning the United States had received before the attack, Trump told the “Wall Street Journal” in a short telephone interview on Friday morning: “Preliminary warning? It was not a warning. It was: We know what’s going on.”

After Israel’s attacks on Iran, the new head of the Iranian revolutionary guards threatened Israel with massive retaliation. For Israel, “the gates would soon open to hell,” said Mohammed Pakpur on Friday, according to the State Iranian news agency IRNA. “The criminal and illegitimate Zionist regime is facing a bitter and painful fate, with enormous and destructive consequences,” he said.

Pakpur is the successor to the revolutionary guard boss Hussein Salami, who was killed in the Great Israeli attack on Friday. Israel targeted around a hundred destinations in the military operation, including places in the capital Tehran and the nuclear system of Natan.

In addition to Salami, almost the entire management staff of the Air Force of the Revolutionary Guard as well as army chief Mohammed Bagheri and several nuclear scientists were killed in the attacks in which, according to the army, around 200 Israeli fighter planes were involved. Iran spoke of a “declaration of war” of Israel.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is discussed in a special meeting about the Israeli attacks on the Iranian nuclear program. The Governor Council meets in Vienna on Monday and said several diplomats of the German Press Agency.

35 IAEA member states are represented in the steering committee, including Germany. From the current point of view, no concrete steps such as a formal conviction of the attack were to be expected from the current point of view, it was said from diplomatic circles. IAEA boss Rafael Grossi had emphasized on Thursday that in his view, nuclear facilities should not be attacked under any circumstances and that such attacks could trigger serious radiation consequences.

In a regular meeting on Thursday, the Governor Council found that Iran violated its legal obligation to disclose its entire nuclear program over IAEA. The background to this step was indications of secret nuclear activities in the past, as well as the current production of almost nuclear weapons-compatible uranium in the Islamic Republic. Iran denies to work on nuclear weapons.
