Israel’s Minister of Defense suspects Mohammed al-Sinwar’s death through a military operation. Media speculate about a discovery in Chan Junis, but there are no confirmations.
Israel’s Minister of Defense apparently has indications that Mohammed al-Sinwar died in a military campaign in the Gaza Strip. According to media reports, Israel Katz said during a committee meeting that there was still no official confirmation, but all the signs indicated that Sinwar was switched off. This assessment is shared by the news page “Ynet” and the newspaper “Haaretz”.
Mohammed al-Sinwar is the younger brother of the Hamas manager Jihia al-Sinwar killed last year. After the death of the Hamas military leader Mohammed Deif in July of last year, he took over the management of the armed arm of the Islamist organization.
Israeli media had recently reported on an Israeli attack on a hospital in Chan Junis in southern Gaza Strip, who was supposed to be Mohammed al-Sinwar. However, an official confirmation of these reports is still pending.
According to the hospital, several people died in an attack on Tuesday. The Israeli army said that this was a “precise attack on Hamas terrorists in a command and control center”.
An unconfirmed report from Arab media points out that Mohammed al-Sinwar’s body could have been discovered in a tunnel in Chan Junis. The Israeli army could not confirm this information on request in the morning.
