Iran: Strait of Hormuz closed again amid US blockade

Iran will close the Strait of Hormuz again if the US blockade continues, according to Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. “If the blockade continues, the Strait of Hormuz will not remain open,” Ghalibaf wrote on the online service X on Saturday. Permission from Iran is required to pass through the strait.

Trump: Talks with Iran continue this weekend

Negotiations between the US and Iran will continue this weekend, President Donald Trump announces. There aren’t too many significant differences anymore.

Iran wants to further restrict traffic through the Strait of Hormuz

Iran has told mediator Pakistan that it will continue to limit the number of ships allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz and impose tolls for the remainder of the ceasefire. This is reported by the “Wall Street Journal”.

Ships passing through the waterway must coordinate with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The IRGC would still be able to block ships belonging to countries that Iran considers hostile, it said. In addition, Iran still insists on a new management system for the strait and tolls.

Trump: Iran doesn’t get any money for its uranium

Iran will not receive any money for giving up its stockpile of highly enriched uranium, according to President Donald Trump. The United States will get Tehran’s uranium and there will be no money transfers in any form, he wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Trump did not directly name the highly enriched uranium, which is said to be located deep beneath Iran’s nuclear facilities. Instead, he spoke of “nuclear dust” – a term he has often used to refer to Iran’s uranium stockpile.

Trump: Peace agreement with Iran “very close”

According to US President Donald Trump, a peace agreement with Iran is “very close”. There are “no sticking points at all” in the talks, Trump said in a telephone interview with the AFP news agency on Friday. “We are very close. It looks like it will be very good for everyone. We are very close to having a deal.”

Trump referred, among other things, to the opening of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz announced by Iran. “The strait will be open, it is already open,” the president said. “And things are going very well.” When asked why he couldn’t announce an agreement with Iran now, Trump said he wanted an agreement written down first. “I’m not doing that, I’ll get it in writing.” Trump spoke to AFP by telephone during a visit to the US gambling metropolis of Las Vegas.
