Intense interest in housing in Türkiye from Chinese investors

Non-residents paid 636 million US dollars for real estate purchases from Türkiye in the January-March period. According to the balance of payments data announced by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT); Non-residents invested 163 million dollars in real estate in Türkiye in January, 230 million dollars in February and 243 million dollars in March. In the same period, the amount paid by residents in Türkiye for real estate purchases abroad was recorded as 620 million dollars. Turks paid 208 million dollars in January, 225 million dollars in February and 187 million dollars in March for the purchase of real estate from abroad.

5 THOUSAND 711 HOUSES WERE SOLD IN 4 MONTHS

In Türkiye, a total of 5 thousand 711 houses were sold to foreigners in 4 months: 1311 in January, 1513 in February, 1361 in March and 1526 in April. During this period, the increase in the number of Chinese investors purchasing houses from Türkiye attracted attention. According to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data; In April, the most house sales according to country nationality were made to citizens of the Russian Federation with 263, Chinese with 110 and Iran with 100, respectively. In the January-April period, investors from China bought 437 houses from Türkiye. Last year, this number was recorded as 791. This year, Chinese investors purchased 73 houses in January, 194 in February, 60 in March and 110 in April.

CHINESE INVESTORS’ CHOICE IS ISTANBUL

Istanbul ranked first in the housing purchase preference of Chinese investors. 336 houses were sold to Chinese investors, who bought 751 houses in Istanbul last year, in the January-April period of this year. In April, the most housing sales to Chinese investors in Istanbul were made in Zeytinburnu and Bağcılar. Chinese investors also bought houses in Antalya, Denizli, Kahramanmaraş, Edirne, Konya, Aksaray, Sakarya and Trabzon.
