Former British Prince Andrew repeatedly claimed that he knew nothing about Jeffrey Epstein’s machinations. However, newly published files could now put him in need of explanation.

The recently published files in the abuse scandal involving the deceased US multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein appear to provide insight into his correspondence with the former British Prince Andrew (65). Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson (66) is also likely to appear in the files.

An email history appears to show that Epstein arranged a dinner for Andrew with a 26-year-old Russian woman in London in 2010 – shortly after the American had served his sentence for prostitution of minors. The reply, bearing Andrew’s signature “HRH The Duke of York KG” and signed with the letter “A”, states: “(…) I would be delighted to see you”. Additional emails show that Epstein planned a celebrity dinner for Andrew.

Epstein was considered to have excellent connections and moved in the highest circles. At the same time, he ran an abuse ring for years, to which dozens of girls and young women fell victim. Andrew always claimed that he had not heard anything about his friend’s machinations. One of the Epstein victims made specific allegations against the younger brother of King Charles III. (77).

The American Virgina Giuffre, who has since died, accused Andrew of sexually abusing her on several occasions, including as a minor in London in 2001. According to the accusation, she was brought to Great Britain in tow with Epstein and forced to have sex with Andrew. A now infamous photo allegedly shows the two of them in the London home of Epstein aide Ghislaine Maxwell, where the abuse is said to have taken place.

Although Andrew denied everything, a civil lawsuit in the USA ended in an alleged settlement worth millions.

Over time, as a result of the allegations, Andrew lost his role as an official representative of the royal family as well as all honors, military ranks and titles. Finally, King Charles stripped him of the title “Prince” he had acquired by birth. His name is now just Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. He also has to move out of the luxurious Royal Lodge property on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Assigning the files, some of which are blacked out, is sometimes difficult. Additional emails suggest that a mysterious contact of Epstein confidante Maxwell called “The Invisible Man” could be Andrew. For example, a possible stay on Epstein’s private island, Little Saint James, is being discussed, in which the contact signed “A” cannot attend because of his children.
