Anyone who has taken out insurance with the now insolvent provider element should hurry up. An important period is running at the end of May.
Regardless of whether you want to protect yourself against accidents, protect your household items from fire or theft or to insure your bike, pet or smartphone: all of this was possible with element insurance-until the company had to register bankruptcy at the end of last year. Around 320,000 customers not only had to try to provide new insurance protection, but may also have to register claims in the bankruptcy proceedings. However, there is not much time left for the latter: According to a decision by the Charlottenburg insolvency court, the deadline for this ends on May 27, 2025.
Demands can be, for example, contribution credit or insurance damage. If you do not register this, you will not get your money back or stay at the costs. You can submit the demands online in the creditor area of the website element-insolvenz.de. From March, all known element insured was informed by the insolvency administrator Friedemann Schade about the opening of insolvency proceedings by post.
The letters also contained personal pins with which those affected can register in the online portal. A separate PIN is required for each insurance contract and for each registered insurance damage. Anyone who logs into the creditor area should now find a so-called proposal value as to how much the element insurance is still owed to. The company wanted to determine these open claims based on its accounting and post the amounts online by the end of April at the latest.
The insolvency administrator therefore asks to only register claims electronically. Everything else would “slow down the process unnecessarily”. Those affected can find more information under the heading “Questions & Answers (FAQ)”. Alternatively, you can contact a telephone hotline with general questions about the bankruptcy proceedings or to register your claims. This can be reached Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on 089-542254200.
Since the insolvency ordinance came into force in 1999, there has been no larger insurance company as an element that had to be handled with insolvency proceedings. This is also due to the fact that the provider had many contracts on cooperation partners run – such as Auto Protect, the Bavarian or Vodafone. Here you will find a full list of partner companies.
