Following the launch of Turkey’s first domestic and national communication satellite Türksat 6A into orbit, it was announced that the first signal was received from the satellite. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made a statement on the social media platform X, saying, “And we successfully received the first signal from our satellite at the 67th minute as planned. Congratulations.” With the receipt of the first signal from the satellite, it was confirmed that the launch and separation of the satellite from the rocket were successfully completed.
It was launched successfully after a short delay
Produced by Turkish engineers, Turkey’s first domestic and national communication satellite, Türksat 6A, was successfully launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA, at 02:30 Turkish time after a 2-hour and 10-minute delay due to weather conditions. It was stated that the satellite, which is expected to settle into its original orbit in 10 to 15 days, will be activated in approximately 1 month.
IT WILL SERVE IN ITS ORBIT AT 42 DEGREES EAST LONGITUDE
Turksat 6A is expected to separate from the rocket approximately half an hour after launch. The first signal is expected to be received approximately 70 minutes after the satellite separates from the rocket.
After Turksat 6A is successfully sent into space, all orbital and subsystem checks will be performed via stations and the satellite will begin its space journey towards its orbit at 42 degrees east longitude.
Once this journey is completed, the orbital tests phase will begin and Türksat 6A will be delivered to Türksat and put into operation after tests that will last at least 1 month.
THE POPULATION REACHED BY TURKEY’S SATELLITES WILL EXCEED 5 BILLION
Türksat 6A, which will be located 35,786 kilometers away from the Earth, will provide service with 20 Ku Band transmitters. With its 8.4 kilowatt power and 4,229 kilogram weight, Türksat 6A will expand the coverage area provided by Türksat to include India, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Once the satellite becomes operational, Turkey will be able to reach more than 65 percent of the world’s population with its own communications satellites. The population reached by Turkey’s satellites will also increase from 3.5 billion to over 5 billion.
Türksat 6A was produced by Turkish engineers at the Space Systems Integration and Test Center (USET) in TUSAŞ in Ankara with a local content rate of over 80 percent. The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and Türksat are the customers in the Türksat 6A Project, TÜBİTAK UZAY is the project manager, and ASELSAN, TUSAŞ and CTECH companies are the project implementing institutions.
