According to a statement from the Chinese aviation and space science and technology company (CASC), the group of 18 satellites was launched from the commercial spacecraft center on Haynan Island with the rocket “Long March-8 Y6”.
The launch, where the satellites settled in the planned orbit position, was the 563th successful transportation task performed with Long March rockets.
Developed by Shanghai SpaceCom Satellite Technology Company (SSST), Chienfan satellites will form a part of the team of satellite networks established in the Low Earth Orbit.
In the first stage of the project, also known as “G60 Starlink”, it is planned to position 1296 satellites into orbit, and when all stages are completed, it is aimed to create a Mega team satellite network consisting of 14,000 large band internet satellites.
The first of the groups of 18 satellites, which would form a part of the Çienfan satellite network, was launched on 6 August 2024, the second on October 15, 2024, the third on 5 December 2024 and the fourth on January 23, 2025.
Satellite networks such as Starlink and Çienfan lead to controversy due to the space debris that it will cause after completing the life of the satellites and satellites that are likely to create in Low Earth Orbit.
