11pm: The Democratic candidate in the US presidential election, Kamala Harris, has indirectly called her Republican opponent Donald Trump a coward. At a campaign event in Rochester, Pennsylvania, she said on Sunday: “In recent years, I think there has been a kind of perversion that says the strength of a leader is measured by who they put down.” But the true measure of the strength of a leader can be seen in who is promoted. “Anyone who puts other people down is a coward,” she said to hundreds of supporters.
Trump called Harris a “radical” and a “crazy” in Pennsylvania on Saturday. According to opinion polls, Harris was able to catch up with Trump both nationwide and in many of the eight hotly contested states, including Pennsylvania.

10.30 p.m.: New polls from conservative pollster Rasmussen Reports show Republican candidates trailing Democrats in crucial Senate races in Arizona, Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Democrats currently control the Senate by a margin of 51 seats to 49, including four independent senators who have joined the party.
The GOP is widely expected to win the West Virginia seat held by outgoing independent Senator Joe Manchin – which will give Republicans an estimated 50 seats. Each of the Republicans in the contested Senate races in Arizona, Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania was endorsed by Trump. A majority in the Senate is important for Kamala Harris to be able to push through her bills if she wins.
10.18 am: US Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to appear with President Joe Biden at the Democratic Party Convention in Chicago on Monday. But that’s not all: the 81-year-old is expected to give a speech at the beginning of the convention.
Biden will speak at the conference in Chicago on Monday evening, the White House said. The party’s gathering is taking place under different circumstances than expected after Biden withdrew from the race for the White House and made way for Vice President Kamala Harris.
The nomination of his deputy as presidential candidate was actually supposed to take place in Chicago, but for bureaucratic reasons it was already handled digitally. The party convention will therefore now primarily serve to celebrate Harris and her running mate Tim Walz with a big show and to give them momentum for the election campaign in the coming weeks.
6.41 am: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has compared his appearance to that of Kamala Harris. His Democratic opponent is said to have an advantage because of her attractiveness, said the 78-year-old at a campaign event in the state of Pennsylvania, adding: “I look much better than her. I look better than Kamala.”
