According to Ampere Analysis, Rockstar‘s special 27-minute “GTA VI Extended Look” screening, which was a preview of Grand Theft Auto 6 on Netflix, broke viewing records and brought a historic influx of members to the platform. So much so that the number of new subscribers increased significantly.
The preview fell short of the final episode of Stranger Things and the MMA fight between Rousey and Carano, but it outperformed nearly every live sporting event on Netflix this year.

Data showed that more than 5% of viewers who didn’t use Netflix within 30 days returned to watch the preview before watching other content. Ampere reported that this reactivation rate was higher than any other series and movies on the platform during that period.

The special screening video reached more than 31 million total views during the 6-hour special window when it was released on Netflix. Not only that, the production became the platform’s most watched content in 87 of the 93 countries served.
Newly registered subscribers were not the only gain brought by the event. According to data, more than 5% of existing members in the US who had not logged in to Netflix in the last 30 days returned to the platform just to watch a 27-minute special screening of GTA 6. This recovery rate was much higher than any other TV series or movie on Netflix during the measured period.
