Green pepper was the most expensive in Istanbul last month

In order to ensure the transparency of the markets and inform the public, the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) announced the products with the highest and lowest retail prices in Istanbul last October, along with their prices and change rates.

While the retail prices of 147 of the 242 products in ITO’s Istanbul Wage Earners Living Index increased, the prices of 18 products decreased and the prices of 77 products remained unchanged.

PEPPER PRICE INCREASED BY 56.17 PERCENT IN OCTOBER

In October, green pepper, which is included in the food expenditures fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup, was the product whose price increased the most with 56.17 percent.

Some of the other products whose prices have increased are; clothing expenditures from the women’s clothing sub-group, women’s sweaters with 48.72 percent, food expenditures from the fresh and dry vegetables and fruits sub-group, zucchini with 43.90 percent, cucumbers with 42.48 percent, clothing expenditures from the men’s clothing sub-group, coats with 39.62 percent. From the men’s and women’s clothing subgroup, it was blouse-women’s with 38.07 percent, from the men’s clothing sub-group, it was suit with 37.75 percent, and from the men’s clothing sub-group it was topcoat-men’s with 37.32 percent.

LEMON WAS 10.46 PERCENT CHEAPER IN OCTOBER

In October 2024, lemon, which is in the fresh and dry vegetables and fruits subgroup of the food expenditures group, decreased by 10.46 percent and became the product whose price decreased the most.

Some of the other products whose prices are decreasing are; intercity bus ticket fee with 7.32 percent from the transportation and communication expenditures group, cabbage with 7.20 percent from the fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup of food expenditures, theater ticket fee with 3.33 percent from the culture, education and entertainment expenditures group, tobacco from the food expenditures group. Among the alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages subgroup, bottled water was at 2.27 percent.
