In the statement made by the company, it was confirmed that German authorities carried out searches at its headquarters in Herzogenaurach and other locations for compliance with customs and tax regulations during the import of products into Germany.
The company noted that it continues to work closely with customs authorities by providing the necessary information and documents to clarify questions arising due to different interpretations of German and European laws.
While the investigation by German investigators covers the period from October 2019 to August 2024, the company does not expect a significant financial impact in connection with the investigation.
According to the German press, Adidas, the world’s second largest sporting goods company, makes almost no production in Germany.
Most shoes and textile products are produced by subcontractors in Asian countries such as China, Vietnam and Bangladesh.
Manager Magazin reported on Tuesday that Bavarian tax inspectors and customs officials raided the headquarters in Herzogenaurach, the Scheinfeld factory in Franconia and the logistics center in Rieste, near Osnabrück.
