Rumors that have been going on for years in the world of video games have turned out to be true: New content is coming to The Witcher 3. CD Projekt Red announced a new expansion pack called The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Songs of the Past on May 27. The DLC will be released on PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X platforms in 2027.

In the statement made by CD Projekt Red, it was stated that the Songs of the Past expansion will take players to the “Path” again with Geralt. Even this short statement created great excitement in the community.

Especially considering that the story of The Witcher 4 will be based on Ciri, this DLC means a very special return for Geralt fans.

Players have long wondered whether Geralt would return to the main story after Blood and Wine.

CD Projekt was going to give the news of the new DLC at the REDStreams event on May 28, but had to postpone the announcement due to unexpected leaks. The long-awaited expansion pack is being developed in collaboration with Fool’s Theory, the Polish indie studio behind The Thaumaturge and Seven: The Days Long Gone. Fool’s Theory is also working on an ongoing remake of the original The Witcher game.

NEW REGION CLAIMS

It is rumored in leaks that Songs of the Past could build a narrative bridge between The Witcher 3 and The Witcher 4. It is also claimed that players can go to the previously undiscovered Zerrikania region.

It is thought that Zerrikania, known for its desert-themed structure, exotic cultures and different creatures, can offer a completely new atmosphere in the Witcher universe. However, it should be noted that these details have not been officially confirmed yet.

NEW SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Meanwhile, it was shared that as new content was added to the game, the system requirements were also updated to ensure smooth performance and compatibility. The game will now only run on the Windows 11 operating system, HDDs will no longer be supported as SSDs offer better performance overall.
