Foreign trade with Turkish lira exceeded 500 billion lira in 4 months

Foreign trade in Turkish lira increased by 12.9 percent in the January-April period compared to the same period last year, reaching 516 billion 94 million lira.

According to the compilation of data from the Ministry of Commerce, exports increased by 22.3 percent in April compared to the same month last year, reaching 25.4 billion dollars. This amount was recorded as the highest April and second highest monthly export value.

During this period, foreign trade in Turkish lira also increased on an annual basis.

Exports in Turkish lira decreased by 6 percent in January compared to the same month last year, reaching 24 billion 730 million liras. Imports increased by 18.8 percent in the first month, reaching 83 billion 526 million lira. Thus, the foreign trade volume in the first month of the year was determined as 108 billion 255 million lira.

In the second month of the year, exports in Turkish lira decreased by 1.9 percent compared to February of last year, reaching 27 billion 755 million liras, while imports increased by 10.5 percent and reached 92 billion 867 million liras. Foreign trade volume exceeded 120 billion 622 million lira.

While exports in Turkish lira increased by 1.9 percent in March compared to the same month of 2025, reaching 31 billion 459 million liras, imports also increased by 15.1 percent. In the month in question, imports worth 110 billion 190 million lira were made. Thus, foreign trade in Turkish lira reached 141 billion 649 million liras in March.

EXPORTS IN TURKISH LIRA INCREASED BY 56.6 PERCENT ON ANNUAL BASIS LAST MONTH

The increase in exports in Turkish lira in April attracted attention.

In the month in question, exports increased by 56.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 38 billion 54 million liras, while imports increased by 10.6 percent, reaching 107 billion 514 million liras. Foreign trade volume in the month in question was calculated as 145 billion 568 million liras.

Thus, in the January-April period of this year, exports in Turkish lira increased by 11.2 percent compared to the same period last year, from 109 billion 758 million lira to 121 billion 998 million lira. In the same period, imports reached 394 billion 96 million liras, an increase of 13.5 percent from 347 billion 297 million liras.

In the 4 months of 2026, foreign trade increased by 12.9 percent from 457 billion 55 million lira to 516 billion 94 million lira.
